SALEM, N.H. (WWLP) - Police in southern New Hampshire say that a peeping Tom had been hiding for nearly two days underneath a trailer he sold to the mother of a young boy.
According to a news release from Salem, New Hampshire police, Christian Hobbs, 47, of Orleans, Massachusetts faces several charges, including prowling, violation of privacy, and manufacturing of child pornography, following his arrest Wednesday night.
Police say that two weeks ago, Hobbs had hooked up two baby monitors inside the trailer after the new owner had hired him to do work there; one in a dryer duct and one in a bedroom.
On Wednesday, the woman was in the bathroom, when police say she saw Hobbs looking up at her from an air duct in the floor. He said only: “hello” before leaving.
She called 911, and police found Hobbs a short time later walking down Route 28. When they confronted him, he reportedly said: “I did it, it was me under the trailer.”
While searching the trailer, police found that Hobbs had cut holes in the floor and in the floor vent under the bathroom. They say that he had been under the trailer for two days, and had stored food, beverages, and tissues there.
Police say he videotaped the woman while she was in the bathroom, and also had video of her toddler son in the nude. Hobbs also admitted to masturbating while under the trailer, Salem police say.
Hobbs refused bail and is scheduled for arraignment on Thursday.
