Slots parlor site considered in Littleton

LITTLETON, Mass. (AP) - Littleton is the latest Massachusetts community to be mentioned as a possible site for a gambling facility.

A Canadian company, Clairvest, said in a statement to The Sun of Lowell last week that it is "evaluating the potential" for a slots parlor in town.

Clairvest has not submitted a formal application to the state or the town of Littleton, both of which would have to approve the facility.

The facility would be built at the 90-acre, mixed-use development being constructed just north of Interstate 495 called The Point.

State law allows for three casinos and one slots-only facility. The deadline for applying for a permit for a slots facility is Jan. 15, with a $ 400,000 application fee required. So far, only one company has paid the fee.
