I just want to let you know Holyoke Catholic High School is also on lockdown. Parents of those students might want to know their children are also safe.

I was in the drive-thru at the Dunkin Donuts attached to the Shell station and heard the first initial shots. Four rapid shots one after another. Employees in the store must have called police. First responder showed up right as I was pulling out of the parking lot and drove up and down the street. Do they know if anyone was injured in the first shots?

Special recognition to Chicopee Officer Dave Benoit who managed to get Trooper Vasquez into his cruiser while under fire and get him to the hospital.

I hope when all of this is over, (and I'm praying everyone will be okay), the crossing guard gets the recognition she deserves for saving those kids lives by getting them out of the line of fire! She deserves an award from the city for her heroism!

I would like to thank the quick acting crossing guard who is also a paraprofessional at bowe school and for my kid - if it wasnt for her many more children might have been in harms way because she did that they did reverse 911 to inform us the school was on lock down so we were able to keep our kids home and safe
