Governor Deval Patrick has lifted the statewide driving ban he put into effect late Friday afternoon.
He lifted the ban at 4PM Saturday evening, and even earlier in some areas of the state.
The cleanup has just begun here in storm battered Western Massachusetts, and will continue throughout the night.
It was the worst storm since the blizzard of 1978.
The Governor said the absence of cars of the road went a long way toward helping plows clear the snow and stopped more people from getting stuck.
