Torn pants give first break in missing child case

ROCKPORT, Mass. (WWLP) - A pair of tattered pants may give police a break in the case of a child who's been missing in Eastern Massachusetts since April.

The pants are similar to ones 2-year-old Caleigh Harrison was wearing when she disappeared from a Rockport Beach.

The clothing was found torn and entangled in lobster gear, about a mile from where she was last seen.

A missing children’s advocate said the discovery could be the first step to closing this case and giving the family closure.

“Well, obviously, they would love to be able to put this child to rest and I think this is the first break in the case that gives them any indication that they may be able to do that,” said Maureen Flatley.

Police searched for Caleigh for one week last spring and determined that she probably got into the ocean and was pulled out to sea.

No evidence was found at the time.
