Four $1M Powerball tickets sold in Mass.

BRAINTREE, Mass. (WWLP) - We are still waiting to see who the two winners of the record Powerball jackpot are, but we now know that at least four people in Massachusetts are new millionaires.

According to the Powerball website , four people in the Bay State won the “Match 5,” which carries a one million dollar prize. That prize is for people who picked the five wining regular white balls, but did not match the red “Powerball.”

The big prize, $587.5 million dollars, was the largest in the game's two-decade history, and it will be shared between players in Arizona and Missouri.

On Wednesday, $2 Powerball tickets were selling at 105,000 per minute, another record for sales in the game. More than 8.9 million "winning" tickets were sold, meaning that many tickets matched at least the Powerball in the wining combination.

If you match the Powerball but no other numbers, you can redeem a prize of $4. The odds of winning that prize are one in 55.41.

According to Massachusetts Lottery spokesperson Beth Bresnahan, the $1 million tickets were sold in Auburn, Boston (2 tickets), and Rockland.
