Warren planning two swearing-in ceremonies

Mock swearing-in ceremony in Boston

BOSTON (AP) - Massachusetts Sen.-elect Elizabeth Warren is planning a pair of swearing-in ceremonies as she takes office.

The first ceremony takes place on Thursday, when Warren will be officially sworn in by Vice President Joe Biden in Washington, DC.

For Warren supporters who can't make the trip, the Democrat is holding a reception and re-enactment of her swearing in ceremony on Saturday at Roxbury Community College in Boston.

Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan will perform the mock swearing-in.

Kagan briefly became an issue during the election that propelled Warren into the Senate and ousted Republican Sen. Scott Brown.

Warren had pointed to Kagan, the former dean of Harvard Law School where Warren taught, as her model justice. Brown defended his decision to vote against Kagan for the high court by saying she lacked courtroom experience.
