BOLTON, Mass. (AP) - Two workers suffered minor injuries when a firework they were lighting at Bolton's town display exploded in its tube.

State Fire Marshall Stephen Coan says a worker manually lit the fuse, but a lift charge failed to shoot the shell out of its 4-inch tube and into the sky.

He says that worker and another suffered minor injuries from shrapnell in the explosion. Both were taken to Clinton Hospital, where they were treated for their injuries and released.

Coan says the injury happened midway through the town's annual Independence Day display, just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday night at Nashoba Regional High School.
