BOSTON (AP) - Gov. Deval Patrick is preparing to mark the Veteran's Day
holiday by signing a bill extending benefits to the state's former
soldiers.
The House and Senate wrapped up debate on a final version of
the bill on Tuesday and sent it to Patrick's desk in time for
Wednesday holiday.
The bill includes cash bonuses for military personnel who
serve more than one tour and allows soldiers stationed overseas to
cast ballots electronically.
Supporters said electronic voting will make it easier for
those in combat to participate in elections.
Patrick plans to sign the legislation at American Legion
Post 294 in Quincy at 12:45 p.m.
