NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (AP) - A city spokeswoman in his home town says a soldier from
Massachusetts has been killed in Iraq.
Kendra Amaral, a spokeswoman for Amesbury Mayor Thatcher
Kezer, says 22-year-old Jordan Shay was killed Tuesday.
The Newburyport Daily News reports that Shay grew up in
Amesbury and is 2005 graduate of Amesbury High School whose family
recently moved to Newburyport.
Newburyport police confirm that they assisted the Army in
notifying the family of his death.
The Department of Defense did not immediately release
details.
No one answered the family's phone on Friday morning.
Flags in both communities have been lowered to half-staff.
