BOSTON (AP) - The Massachusetts School Building Authority has approved $321 million for school construction projects in 15 districts.

Authority director Katherine Craven said Wednesday the $321 million in state funding will combine with local funding for a total of $660 million to build or renovate three high schools, three middle schools, and nine elementary schools.

State Treasurer Tim Cahill, chairman of the authority, tells The Boston Globe that the money will help reinvigorate the economy by creating jobs.

The biggest chunk of state cash, nearly $71 million, went to Wayland for renovations to the town's 50-year-old high school.

Needham, Brookline, Wellesley, Lawrence, Holyoke and Springfield are among the other districts that received a portion of the money.
