SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The residents on several streets surrounding SABIS International Charter School say the snow melt can’t come fast enough.
Buses and parents dropping-off children at the school's entrance on Sunbrier Road cause traffic backups on the private way each morning and afternoon.
Those who live on that street and several others in the area say the snow banks that inched out into the roadways made it nearly impossible to get through.
"We can not accommodate 22 buses a day and all of the parents that drive their children to school. It has been an absolute horror this winter," Barbara Guard of Springfield said.
"Kids are going to get hurt one of these days walking in the streets. Kids, people be driving in and out of here and the school don't want to be responsible and nobody else is standing up for us," Floyd Farrow said.
"People can't get by. They're sliding off of snow banks and I mean they're really something that was terrible," Willie Johnson said.
These residents say that they have taken it on themselves to push clear the snow from the roads and push back the snow banks.
