Mean Streets near Westover in Chicopee

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - 22News has learned area drivers are afraid to enter Westover Road from Honeysuckle Drive because Westover traffic never slows down.

Trucks coming from the nearby Metro-West Industrial Park sped past the flashing lights far in excess of the posted speed limit of 30 mph.

A driver visiting a friend living on Honeysuckle Drive told 22News something must be done.

"Cars coming out of the Industrial Park onto the highway, and you really don't have time to get across," said Ruth Archambault of Chicopee.

Westover Road, though it feels like a highway, certainly is not. It remains a neighborhood street with a posted speed limit of 30 mph.
