(WWLP) - Barry Kriger anchors 22News weeknight newscasts at 5:30, 6 and 11PM.  Barry also goes out into the community and reports on the news that affects the people of western Massachusetts.  Barry has worked for 22News for over 20 years, interrupted by a 3  year stint of anchoring and reporting at WPRI-TV in East Providence, Rhode  Island.  Since returning to 22News in 1998, Barry has garnered four Associated Press Awards for excellence in reporting breaking news, and for continuing coverage of significant news stories.  

Over the years, Barry has been involved in numerous community and charitable efforts throughout the Pioneer Valley.  He has dedicated his time to support the fight against cancer through the Jimmy Fund.  He also volunteers for the local chapters of the American Lung Association and Ronald McDonald House.  One of the area's favorite "toastmasters," Barry emcees many local functions for local civic organizations.  Over the years, Barry has been recognized in the Valley and Springfield Advocates as best local anchor and reporter. Barry is obsessed with two things: telling the story so it's clearly understood by viewers, and foot-launched personal flight.  Barry is a paraglider pilot.
