(WWLP) - Joyce Ogirri joined WWLP-22News in June of 2009. Joyce is very excited to return home to Springfield and bring you news that matters to you. She is currently a multi-platform journalist. On any given day, she could be behind the scenes as a producer writing for a newscast or the internet. You can also see her out in the field as a reporter shooting, writing, and editing her own stories.
Joyce worked as a reporter for news talk radio station 1220 AM in Hamden, CT. She also worked in Washington, D.C. as a correspondent for KFDX in Wichita Falls, Texas. As a program coordinator for the PBS Affiliate in Pittsburgh, she managed and generated content for educational outreach for children in grades K-8. Along with that responsibility, she produced feature stories for the Emmy-award winning magazine-format TV program, Teens ON Q.
Joyce has a Master's degree in Broadcast Journalism from Syracuse University. During her time at Syracuse, she covered the 2008 New Hampshire presidential primary, where Joyce developed her love for politics. She also interned at WSTM NBC Affiliate. She has a dual degree in Communications and Spanish from the University of Pittsburgh.
In her spare time, Joyce loves dancing, traveling, watching sports and spending time with family and friends.
Joyce is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
