Charlotte H. Borek

(1937-2012) - Charlotte H. (Sablak) Borek died peacefully at Birch Manor Nursing and Skilled Rehabilitation Center in Chicopee, Massachusetts on September 29, 2012. Ms. Borek, 75, daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Dolina) Sablak, was born in West Warren, Massachusetts. Before her retirement, she was employed as a bookkeeper by local businesses, including the Sanderson MacLeod Company, Palmer, Massachusetts, and the Quaboag Country Club, Monson, Massachusetts; by Storrowton; and by gift shops in the Springfield area. Charlotte was an avid reader who enjoyed gardening and caring for her two Boston terriers.

Ms. Borek was predeceased by her daughter Frances Borek, her brother Ronald (Brother Stefan) Sablak, and her former husband, Walter S. Borek, Jr. She is survived by her brother Stanley Sablak and his wife Sandra of Wallingford, CT; her niece Laurie Sablak and her husband Todd Gazda of West Hartford, CT; her nephew Tom Sablak and his wife Laura Mills of Concord, MA; and by her great nieces Vera and Elinor Sablak and great nephew Evan Gazda.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Church, 823 Main Street, Agawam, Massachusetts on October 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. The family wishes to thank the staff of Birch Manor and New England Hospice for the kind and considerate care they provided over the many months of her illness. Memorials may be made to New England Hospice, 190 Old Derby Street, Suite 304, Hingham, MA 02043, and to the American Cancer Society, 59 Bobala Road, Holyoke, MA 01040.
