Edmund F. Malachowski

(1923 – 2009) - Edmund F. “Ed” Malachowski, 86, a 42-year resident of Hampden, died on Tuesday October 27, 2009 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born in Springfield on September 22, 1923 one of six children of the late Frank and Veronica (Dombrowska) Malachowski. Ed served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attained the rank of Aviation Ordnance Man First Class. He was employed as a flooring installer for many years throughout the area. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ed leaves his wife of 60 years, Doris M. (Hickox) Malachowski; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Ed’s family will receive friends and family on Saturday November 7, 2009 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road in Springfield. Donations may be made in Ed’s memory to the Hampden Library, 625 Main Street, Hampden, MA 01036 or to the Hampden Senior Center, 104 Allen Street, Hampden, MA 01036.
