Francis D. Viens

(1927-2012) - Francis D. Viens, 85, entered into eternal rest on Saturday. Born in Agawam, son of the late Frank and Rose (Lecour) Viens Parent and stepson of the late Jack Parent, he lived in Feeding Hills for most of his life.  Francis worked for a number of area companies including Strathmore Paper Company, Heritage Hall Nursing Home as well as Sacred Heart Church where he was also a communicant.  He was a member of the Agawam Golden Age Club Chapter 2, the Cursillo movement and made a marriage encounter retreat in 1978.  He was a World War II army veteran. 

He leaves his wife of 65 years, Marie L. (Paro) Viens, one son, Ronald F. Viens and his wife Susan of Cape Cod, five daughters, Vicki M. Fontana and her husband Gary of Agawam, Nancy J. Comee and her husband James of Southwick, Linda S. Comee and her husband Chester of Feeding Hills, Donna J. Viens of West Springfield, Pamela A. Largay and her husband James of Agawam, and a brother, Lawrence Viens of Agawam. He also leaves fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.  He was also predeceased by a grandson, Daniel Comee in 2009.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 8:30am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 9:45.  The service will continue at 11 at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 5-8pm.
