(1940-2012) - Francis J. “Bo” Amellin, 72, entered into eternal on Saturday, October 6, 2012. Born in Springfield, son of the late Francis P. and Catherine (Carney) Amellin, he was a 1958 graduate of Cathedral High School. He moved to Feeding Hills in 1970. Bo had worked for the United States Postal Service for thirty-two years, retiring in 1992. After his retirement, he worked as a custodian for Sacred Heart Church in Feeding Hills and for St. Mary’s Grammar School in Westfield. He was an avid candlepin bowler, and a self-taught organist. He excelled at drawing and building miniature buildings. He played horseshoes with his father and son and was a Cleveland Indians fan. Bo was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus JKF Council. Bo’s family would like to thank the staff at Country Estates Nursing Home.
He will be remembered as a gentle and loving husband, father and grandfather. He married the love of his life, Mary “Yvette” (Martin) Amellin on July 2, 1960. He leaves a son and his wife, Richard F. and Jessica Amellin of Southwick, two daughters, Theresa A. Demichele of Southwick, Laura M. and her husband Christos Joanides of Feeding Hills, a sister, Blanche V. “Ginger” Amellin of Springfield, eight grandchildren, Cyndie, Ryan, Stephanie, Alyssa, Erin, Michael, Christina and Christos, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Angela M. Amellin in 1985.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10. The burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-8pm.
