(1917-2012) - Fred J. Profiglio, 95, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 3, 2012.  Born in Springfield, son of the late Fred and Rose (Julian) Profiglio, he was a lifelong resident and a graduate of Springfield Technical High School.  Fred worked as a draftsman at the former Diamond International and previously he worked for the former Van Norman Machine. He was a World War II Army veteran and had an important part in engineer operations in Germany. He helped in drawing up plans for three railroad bridges built over the Rhine River in the closing days of the European war.  He was involved with the Battle of the Bulge and the Invasion at Normandy.  He served in the Company E 119th Infantry Regiment and received the Victory Medal, the Bronze Star and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign Ribbon. Fred was also a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.  He leaves many cousins including Thomas Lucia and Christine O’Connor both of Springfield. 

The funeral will be Friday at 9:30am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street with a Mass in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church at 10. The burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Calling hours will precede the service from 8:30 – 9:30am. Donations may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130.
