Gail F. Pirnie

(1945-2012) - Gail F. (Sprague) Pirnie, 66, entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 26, 2012 at home. Born in North Adams, daughter of the late Lafayette and Edith (Wilder) Sprague, she was a 1964 graduate of Drury High School in North Adams. As a teenager she was a Rainbow girl.  She was a past president of the Agawam Junior Women’s Club and was one of the founding members of the Clearing House Program of the Junior Women’s Club. Gail was a devoted mother to her three children and opened her home and heart as a foster mother to over twenty children. Gail was a certified nurse assistant for fifteen years for Heritage Hall Nursing Home and The Atrium in Agawam, and also worked at the former Trim Exchange in West Springfield.  

She leaves her husband of forty-six years, Paul D. Pirnie, two sons, Shawn D. Pirnie of Agawam, Sean M. Pirnie of Westfield, a daughter, Jodi E. Albertson of Agawam, two brothers, Stuart Sprague and Robert Sprague both of North Adams, and five grandchildren, Kaila Pirnie, Britney Kallipolites, Tyler Pirnie, Austin Albertson and Zachary Pirnie.

A Celebration of Gail’s life will be Saturday, at the family’s home at 23 Agnoli Street, beginning at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, Paul Pirnie, c/o First Niagara Bank, 5 North Westfield Street, Feeding Hills, MA 01030. Agawam Funeral Home is in charge.
