(1914-2009) - Helen M. Foley, 95, formerly of Miller Street in the Hungry Hill
section of Springfield died Sunday afternoon November 15, 2009
surrounded by her family in Mercy Medical Center, Springfield.
Helen, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Fitzgerald)
Foley, was born in Springfield on September 19, 1914. Helen was the
retired Clerk of Courts in the Hampden County Hall of Justice,
Superior Court. A lifelong resident of the Hungry Hill section of
Springfield, Helen was a longtime communicant of Our Lady of Hope
Church. Her great grand niece Maeve said “Auntie Helen loved
chocolate.”
In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her
brothers, Thomas, Michael, Morg, and James Foley; her sisters, Anna
Hoar, Mary Foley and Catherine Foley. She is survived by a brother,
Timothy J. Foley of East Longmeadow and formerly of the Hungry Hill
section of Springfield; a sister-in-law, Joan Foley of Springfield;
along with many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, great
grand nieces and great grand nephews.
Family and friends are asked to meet on Saturday morning
November 21, 2009 at Our Lady of Hope Church, Armory Street,
Springfield to Celebrate the Liturgy of Christian Burial for Helen
at 10 a.m. Rites of Committal and Burial will follow in St.
Michael’s Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield. Memorial
contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to Shriner's
Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street, Springfield, MA 01104 and
or to the Sisters of St. Joseph, Mont Marie, 34 Lower Westfield
Road, Holyoke, MA 01040. There are no visiting hours. Sampson
Family Chapels is entrusted with the arrangements.
