John E. Godon

(1927-2012) - John E. Godon, 85, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in Baystate Medical Center.  Born in Holyoke, son of the late Theodore and Evelyn (Crevier) Gordon, he lived in Agawam for forty-eight years. John worked as a manufacturing engineer for Hamilton Standard for thirty-seven years, retiring in 1986.  He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Chicopee and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. John was an avid hunter and fisherman, taking along his sons and also taking walks in the woods.  He was also a World War II army veteran. He was a handyman and could repair anything. 

He leaves his wife of sixty-one years, Claire R. (Dufresne) Godon, three sons and their wives, Norman P. and Mary Beth Godon of Wilbraham, Gregory J. and Crystal Godon of Brewster, NY, Mark R. and Sharon Godon of Midlothain, VA, a sister, Marcella Bower of Springfield, eight grandchildren, Alexander, Katherine, Danielle, Carl, Abigail, Hannah, Matthew, Thomas and two great-grandchildren, Jean Luke and Julianna.

The funeral will be Friday at 9am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street with a Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10. The burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday from 4-8pm.
