Jose Afonso

(1925 - 2009) - Jose Afonso, 84, of Ludlow, died peacefully on Monday November 3, 2009. Born in Portugal, he came to this country in 1971.

He was a retired employee of the Laurino Packing Co. of W. Springfield. His wife, the former Maria DaCruz, predeceased him in 1994.

Jose is survived by two daughters; Maria Batista of Portugal, Connie Doughty, and her husband William of Ludlow, 3 grandchildren; Cristina Rodrigues and Ashley and Robby Doughty and a great grandson Tomas.

Funeral services Thursday morning, November 5, at 9:15 A.M. from the Ludlow Funeral Home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in Island Pond Cemetery. Visiting hours are from 8:30 – 9:15 A.M. Thursday morning, and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
