(1937-2012) - Luciano M. "Chano" Vieira, 74, of Indian Orchard, passed away peacefully at home on January 13, 2012 with his loving family by his side.  Born in Ima do Jarmelo, Portugal, son of the late Jose and Josefina Vieira; he was a police officer in Lisbon and later a member of the Portuguese Army spending many years in Cape Verde before moving to Indian Orchard in 1978, where he worked for 19 years at Smith and Wesson.   He spent his summers at his father's house in his hometown in Portugal and was a passionate farmer; but his greatest joy in life was spending time with his family.

Luciano was the beloved husband of 33 years to Conceicao (Monteiro Martins) Vieira; a loving father to Nelson Vieira, of Boston, Christina Clark and husband Connell, of West Springfield, and Marco Vieira, of Springfield; an adoring VoVo of Luciana Clark; a dear brother to Irene Correia and husband Fernando, of Arizona; ( and Mario Vieira, Maria Trindade, and Dulce Vieira, all of Portugal, and the late Alzira and Amandio Neto); and also leaves many loving extended members and dear friends.

Funeral services are on Thursday January 19, 2012 at 10am from Ludlow Funeral Home with Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11am in Our Lady of Fatima Church followed by burial in Island Pond Cemetery.  Visiting Hours are on Wednesday from 4-7 pm and in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Luciano's memory to The Michael J.
