Bernice Y. Shea

(1916 – 2010) - Bernice Y. (Benard) Shea, of 27 Clinton Ave, a retired retail worker for Lillian Benard’s Dress Shop, died Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Country Estates in Agawam. She was the wife of Raymond J. Shea, a retired police officer who preceded her in 1993. Born in Holyoke, October 2, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Bernadette (Cartier) Benard. Bernice was a communicant of Holy Cross Church.

She leaves a daughter, Suzanne Shea of Vero Beach, FL. Her son Donald, preceded her death in Lockport, N.Y. on December 16, 2001. Bernice also leaves a sister, Lillian Benard of Agawam; two grandsons and two great grand-daughters. During her lifetime, Bernice was an avid needle pointer and expert in handwork as well as lover of books, collections and traveling.

At the request of the deceased, there will be a Memorial Mass at Holy Cross Church at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bernice’s memory, to Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St, Springfield, MA 01104-2396.
