Phyllis E. Rugg

(1922 – 2009) - Phyllis E. (Traverse) Rugg, 87, of Wilbraham passed away on Saturday, October 31, 2009.

Phyllis was born in Cambridge, MA, a daughter of the late Alfred and Florence (Chislette) Traverse. She was a graduate of Boston University and earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work. Prior to marrying the late James M. Rugg, who passed away in 1991, she worked for a Catholic Children’s Home in Boston and the American Red Cross.

Phyllis is survived by her three sons, James A. Rugg of Weston, FL, Jonathan M. Rugg of Tulsa, OK, and Christopher T. Rugg of Hudson, NH; her daughter, Judith C. Rugg of Brewster, MA, her sister, Dolores Barrie of Mt. Airy, MD and her two grandchildren, Elizabeth J. Rugg and Mary P. Rugg.

Funeral services were private for the family with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Eastham, MA. Arrangements were entrusted to the Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road in Springfield.
