LONGMEADOW, Mass. (1920-2011) - Regina D. “Jean” (DeVine) Waters, 91, of Longmeadow, died on Saturday October 1, 2011 surrounded by her loving family at the Redstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in East Longmeadow. She was born on April 9, 1920 in Huntington, NY the daughter of the late William E. and Mary B. (Powers) DeVine and was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy Academy in Syosset, NY. Regina was employed for 38 years as a banker with the First National Bank of Long Island and was very proud that she became the first female officer of the bank. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Longmeadow and was a loving mother who enjoyed spending time with her family.

In addition to her parents, Regina was preceded in death by her son, Bernard W. Waters; her brother, George DeVine; and her former husband, Bernard Waters. Regina will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her including her daughter, Bernandette “Bernie” Price and her husband Robert “Lad” Price of East Longmeadow; her niece, Sally DeVine of San Luis Obispo, CA; and her extended family and friends including her dear friend, Oscar Acklesberg.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Liturgy of Christian Burial on Wednesday October 5, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow Street in Longmeadow, with Rites of Committal and Interment to follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 421 Tinkham Road in Springfield. Visiting hours are private. Arrangements are entrusted to the Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road in Springfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Regina’s memory to St. Mary’s Church, 519 Longmeadow Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
