(1947-2013) - Richard H. Hannah, 65, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Orleans, VT, son of the late Clarence J. and Simone (Phenix) Hannah, he lived his early years in Vermont and Connecticut and graduated from Agawam High School. Richard was a truck driver for forty years. He enlisted in the Army and served from 1967 to 1970. He became disabled in 1996 and received a heart transplant in 1997 at Hartford Hospital. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, the VFW and attended St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Church. Richard was a devoted husband, father, son and grandfather.
He leaves his devoted wife, Claire (Gamache) Hannah, two sons, Mark A. and his wife Carolee Hannah of Bethlehem, GA, Eric D. Hannah of Southwick, two daughters, Michelle L. and her husband Robert Barrett of West Springfield, Barbara E. Hannah and her fiancé, Theodore McGurn of West Springfield, a step-son, Douglas D. and his wife Shirrell Daniels of Charlotte, NC, four brothers, Albert Hannah of Southwick, Raymond Hannah of Agawam, Maurice Hannah of Danielson, CT, Phillip Hannah of West Springfield, eleven grandchildren, Zachary, Hunter, Douglas II, Dorian, Alexis, Paul, Bradie, McKenzie, Elizabeth, Simone and Ahna, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Pauline Lacroix and Alice Breault.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 8:30am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street with a Mass in St. Francis Xavier Cabrini Church at 9:30. The burial will follow in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday from 4-7pm.
