Richard H. Booth D.M.D.

(1930 - 2009) - Richard H. Booth D.M.D., 79, of Palmer died Saturday October 24, 2009 surrounded by his family in Northampton Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Richard, a son of the late Joseph and Amelia (Houde) Booth was born in Springfield on April 9, 1930. Raised in Springfield, Richard graduated from Classical High School received his Bachelors of Science from American International College with high honors and his Doctorate in Medical Dentistry cum laude from Tufts Dental School and was awarded the Honor Key from the National Dental Society. While he attended AIC, Richard was on the rowing and football teams. Richard had his practice as a Doctor of Medical Dentistry in Springfield for 35 years and retired in 1993. He resided in Wilbraham for 18 years and in Palmer for the past 25 years. Richard served his country during peacetime with the United States Navy attaining the rank of Lieutenant. Richard was a member of the Wilbraham Lions Club, the Springfield Rod and Gun Club, and the Springfield Turn-Verein, and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Mark J. Booth and his wife Kelly of Palmer; two daughters, E. Kimberley Booth of Vacaville, CA and Loren A. Booth MacIntosh of Chicopee; a dear friend Esta Manthos of Wilbraham; five grandchildren, Sarah Booth, Kyle Runyon, Michael MacIntosh, Sarah Russell, and Jennifer Russell; two great grandchildren, Gabriel Tassinari and Brandon Chatel; and his former wife Patricia (Groll) Booth of Springfield.

A memorial service for Richard will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Sampson’s Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. A visiting hour will precede the memorial service on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at 11 a.m. Memorial contributions in Richard’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
