(1929 - 2009) - Thomas W. “Tom” Erwin, 80, of Springfield died on
Friday November 6, 2009 at home.
He was born in Randolph, MA on October 6, 1929 a son of the
late George T. and Jeannette M. (Hollis) Erwin. Thomas had worked
at the Armstrong Cork Company in Braintree, MA, the Randolph, MA
office of the Prudential Insurance Company and Jesse Kitchens in
Kingston, MA. He was a member of Foster Memorial Church, UCC of
Springfield and was a member of the Puritan Masonic Lodge AF&AM
of Whitman, MA, a 32nd Degree Mason of the Scottish Rites Valley of
Boston and a member of the Aleppo Temple Shrine in Wilmington, MA.
He enjoyed spending time at his vacation home in Naples, ME, was a
member of the Eastfield MallWalkers Club in Springfield and was a
participant in many Elderhostel Programs.
Tom will be deeply missed by his wife of 56 years, Barbara E.
(Larson) Erwin; his two sons, Robert T. Erwin of Naples, ME and
Wayne R. Erwin an his wife Rose of Sanford, ME; his daughter, Nancy
Brown and her husband Alan of Goffstown, NH; his three
granddaughters, Naomi, Rebekah and Deborah Erwin of Sanford, ME;
his two grandsons, SPC Daniel Brown, currently serving in
Afghanistan and Timothy Brown of Goffstown, NH; his three sisters,
Ethel Davis of Abington, MA, Marion Hirtle and her husband Russell
of Halifax, MA and Evelyn Martin of Quincy, MA; his brother, Walter
R. Erwin of Whitman, MA; his 17 nieces and nephews, 19 grand nieces
and grand nephews and seven great-grand nieces and great-grand
nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held for Tom on Tuesday November
10, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Foster Memorial Church on Wilbraham Road in
Springfield. There are no visiting hours. Arrangements are
entrusted to the Sampson Family Chapels in Springfield. In lieu of
flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s memory to Foster
Memorial Church, 36 Puritan Road, Springfield, MA 01129 or to the
Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 516 Carew Street,
Springfield, MA 01104.
