(1941-2009) - Vivian (Capron) Toman, 68, of Wilbraham, lost her courageous two
year fight against Lou Gehrig’s Disease(ALS)Saturday,
November 14,2009.
Typical of her unique style, she fought her battle against
ALS on her own terms. She was cared for at home and surrounded by
her loving family. She was born in Richmond, Virginia on April 29,
1941. Vivian was the daughter of the late George and
Louise(Cole)Capron . She graduated from Manchester High School in
Richmond, Virginia. Vivian started her career as a secretary at E I
Dupont de Nemours in Richmond where she met her husband, Tom Toman.
After their marriage they lived and raised their family in New York
City, Vienna, Virginia, and Medford ,NJ before finally settling in
Wilbraham, MA. Vivian worked as a Word Processing Manager at
Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company, retiring in 1999.
Over the years, Vivian contributed her time and talents to
many volunteer organizations; typing, baking, serving or doing
whatever needed to be done. She was an active participant with
Wilbraham and Monson Academy Parent Organization , the Minnechaug
Scholarship Foundation ,the RFK Detention Center, SCORE (Senior
Core of Retired Executives), and was an active member of Wilbraham
United Church .There is nothing she wouldn’t give of her self
,no task too big or small if it would help another in some way. Her
favorite pastime by far was shopping for her family and friends.
She enjoyed finding great sales and knew all the ins and outs of
her favorite stores, and how to get the best bargains at them. Her
dedication to her grandchildren was her primary retirement pursuit.
She shopped for, spent time with, and showered them with love.
Which was returned to her a thousand fold.

loving daughters Kimberly Dacey, and her husband, James ,Lori
Jacocks and her husband, Kyle, all of Richmond, Virginia and Tracy
