CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The numbers are in and it turns out this was one expensive Presidential Race.
In their quest for the White House, Mitt Romney and President Obama spent a whopping two billion dollars.
It was the first year "Super" political action committees spent hundreds of millions on TV ads. Many wealthy celebrities also dished out millions in support of their favorite candidate.
Money, some people here in western Mass say, is hard to comprehend. Richard Jenkins of Holyoke told 22News, “I don't even know how much that is to tell you the truth, that's a lot of money.”
According to Sharon Fontana of Enfield, “I can't imagine, I can't imagine needing that much money to run for office, I can't.”
Records show a sizable chunk of money came in just weeks before the election.
