Washington, D.C. (WWLP) - Just a week to go before President Barack Obama is sworn in for his second term on Monday, January 21, in ceremonies at the Capitol.
Distribution of tickets for the Inauguration ceremony is beginning. The tickets go to to House and Senate members, who then provide them to constituents.
A Presidential Inauguration is a massive undertaking.
Construction of the platform on the west front of the Capitol, where the President will take the oath office, began in late September with a “First Nail” ceremony.
And this weekend there was a dress rehearsal for the Inaugural ceremony. There were stand-ins of course for the President and First Lady.
President Obama will officially be sworn-in on Sunday, January 20 as mandated by law in a private ceremony.
But because the date fell on a Sunday, Congress moved the public Inaugural ceremony to Monday.
