Washington, D.C. (WWLP) - President Barack Obama will take the oath of office for a second term before thousands on Monday.
But getting tickets to the 57th Presidential Inauguration swearing-in ceremony isn't easy.
Tickets are distributed through the offices of U.S. Senators and members of the U.S House of Representatives.
Each Congressional office gets about 190 Inauguration tickets, according to William Tranghese, spokesman for Congressman Richard Neal.
Tranghese says they've been getting requests for tickets from residents of the new 1st Congressional District since the election in November.
He says there's more requests than tickets available, so their office uses a lottery system to distribute the tickets.
The demand for tickets usually outstrips the supply, so a lottery system is used to distribute the tickets says Tranghese.
If anyone from Western Massachusetts is headed to the Inauguration, Congressman Richard Neal will be hosting a coffee and donut reception on Inauguration Day. The reception is free and open to the public and anyone from the area is invited to stop in.
It will run from 7:30-9:00 a.m. on Monday, January 21, at the American Legion Post #8, which is located at 224 D Street SE on Capitol Hill.
