Kerry moves from Senate to State Dept.

(WWLP) - Senator John Kerry leaves Massachusetts today to become Secretary of State in the Obama administration.

Kerry, leaves behind  thirty years of state-wide campaigns and  a network of supporters across the state.

Debra Kozikowski, of Chicopee has been involved in all of Kerry’s  campaigns since he first ran for Lt. Governor in 1982.

 In 2004 when he ran for President, she worked on behalf of Kerry in other states, including Ohio.

Kozikowski, who is Vice Chair of the Massachusetts  Democratic Party said that the loss of Kerry as the state’s senior Senator is the nation’s gain.

Kozikowski says that Kerry’s longstanding and keen interest in environmental issues, that he has focused on since his days as Lieutenant Governor, will be helpful as he deals with world issues that are tied in with it.

Kerry is replacing Hillary Clinton, who served four years as Secretary of State.
