EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Mayor Mike Tautznik was re-elected to his office for another two years, making it 15 consecutive years he will manage the town of Easthampton.

Mayor Tautznik defeated his closest opponent, JP Kwiecinski, by about 600 votes at the polls on Tuesday. Both candidates said it was a close race, in a year when many are looking for answers because of tough economic times.

Candidates Al DiCarlo and Marge Prendergast also came up short in the four-way race.

Tautznik has been in office since 1996, the first year the town had a mayor. He has run unchallenged since 1999.
