WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Mayor Edward Gibson was re-elected to his fifth term in West Springfield, but it was so close his opponent said he is going to challenge the vote.

Gibson beat out his challenger, City Councilor Paul Boudo, by only 350 votes.

Boudo said he told the Town Clerk he is going to challenge the vote.

“I’m disappointed obviously. I think it’s so close it needs to be reconsidered,” Boudo said.

In 2000, Gibson was elected as the first-ever Mayor of West Springfield and has won every election since.

“I’m really grateful to the voters of West Springfield for the faith and trust they put back into me to let me lead them and represent them over the next two years,” Gibson said.
