(NBCNC) - President Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney have launched a new round of broadsides on the campaign trail.
The Romney campaign has been hammering President Obama for a comment he made eleven days ago in Virginia.
The president is fighting back.
During a campaign stop Monday Mr. Obama accused Romney of "knowingly twisting my words around to suggest that I don't value small business."
He went on to affirm his support for small businesses and the customers who help them grow.
"What helps them succeed is a strong and growing middle class who can buy the products that they're selling. Every business needs customers," the president said.
Speaking to the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Reno, the president attacked Romney's readiness to be Commander in Chief.
He focused on the Republican's lack of foreign policy experience.
Romney, meanwhile, is heading off on an overseas trip, first to the London Olympics, then on to Israel and Poland.
