Ethics, work plan discussed at Gaming Commission meeting

BOSTON (WWLP) - The findings of the State Ethics Commission regarding Springfield’s choice of casino consultant is up for discussion during this weeks meeting of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission.
Last week, the Ethics Commission released a report indicating that they found no conflict of interest in Shefsky & Froelich being the consultant helping the City of Springfield in its search process. Questions were raised about the Chicago-based law firm, after it was revealed that they had MGM and Penn-National, two casino developers interested in Springfield, as clients in Illinois.
The main issue up for discussion at Tuesday afternoon’s meeting in Boston is a draft strategic plan. The more than 400-page document lays out a timeline and provides specifics on the licensing process.
