Warren visits Beacon Hill, prepares for D.C.

BOSTON, Mass. (WWLP) - On the heels of a hard fought U.S. Senate win, Elizabeth Warren is looking ahead to setting up her new office.  As a candidate, Warren’s hectic schedule had her crisscrossing Massachusetts non-stop.  Now that she’s won, she's not breaking the pace. Warren visited Beacon Hill Thursday to talk policy and politics with the governor and legislative leaders.

“I’m looking forward to being a good partner in Washington for the people of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and to working closely with Governor Patrick,” said Warren.

“We had a great conversation about our own growth strategy here in the Commonwealth, our investment in education and innovation and in infrastructure,” said Governor Deval Patrick.

Warren quickly dropped by the offices of House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Senate President Therese Murray. In the next few weeks she plans to begin hiring staff for her own Senate operations.

When 22 News asked Warren whether she’d open an office in Western Massachusetts and how she would show her commitment to the western part of the state, she kept her answer short.

“I do plan to have an office in Western Massachusetts, yes,” said Warren.

When asked who she was looking to hire on her new staff, Warren was a little more forthcoming. 

“I’m looking for people who are smart, who are thoughtful,” said Warren.  “I think that diversity in building a staff and every meaning of that word diversity is a strength.”

Warren will head to Washington D.C. as early as next week to start setting up her new office.
