BOSTON (WWLP) - Monday night marks the final televised showdown between President Barack Obama and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. The latest NBC News poll has Obama and former Romney tied at 47 percent.
Before the first presidential debate, the President had a decent lead against the former Massachusetts governor. But after that debate in Denver, critics say Obama’s subdued performance allowed Romney to surge ahead.
Following the second debate on Long Island, a more energized Obama brought the two presidential candidates to a virtual tie. While lawmakers say Romney’s performance style has been consistent, some, like Senate Minority Leader Bruce Tarr, wonder which Obama we will see tonight.
“The President really has to think about whether he wants to be the person that was lethargic and without energy in the first debate, or whether he wants to be the person that was combative and in some ways a little bit too confrontational in the second debate, or whether he wants to try and a new third approach and hope that may work better,” said Tarr, a Gloucester Republican.
“I think the president we saw at the last debate is the one we’ve seen governing for the last four years,” said Gov. Deval Patrick, Romney’s successor as Governor, and one of President Obama’s biggest supporters.
“This is the president who brings a real conviction who is governing from a core.”
The presidential candidates will face off at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida: A key battleground state.
You can watch the debate live on 22News at 9:00 P.M. It will also be streamed live on WWLP.com on any device.
