BATON ROUGE, Louisana (WVLA) - If you got some gift cards to a store or two you that you're sure you'll never use gifting to a charity might a great option.

"You name it, whatever it may be, instead of re-gifting it, gift it to the charity of your choice," says Michael Acaldo, the Executive Director of The Society of St. Vincent De Paul.

Just like that, you can donate your unwanted, not so perfect gifts or gift card balances of any amount from any store, to charity.

"We want to make sure that people know that that's an avenue out there," says Acaldo.

If you have receipts for the cards or returns, don't throw them away just yet-because with that donation you're actually gaining something yourself.

"Oh yeah, it's all tax deductible," noted Acaldo.

Before you donate, go to charity navigator.com.

It's a website that allows you to see where your funds are really going within each organization.

And with the growing need for community support at charitable organizations across the country, this is just another way you can give a little more.
