Snowman terrifies pedestrians

NEWPORT, R.I. (WJAR) - "Freaky" the Snowman is Jay Lichtenberg's ticket to cashing in on YouTube.

The snowman, which is actually Lichtenberg's friend inside a snowman suit, sits outside a store and startles passers-by.

Lichtenberg posts the reactions on the web video sharing network, millions watch it, and he gets a piece of the advertising.

"Freaky" used to sit in Providence, Rhode Island but was asked to leave by police.

"A cop came along and asked us to leave, and we left. And a lieutenant said it was a safety concern. He doesn't want it in his city. He doesn't like it," Lichtenberg said.

The scary snowman has now found a home scaring unsuspecting people in Newport.

Lichtenberg said no one's been hurt and the snowman uses discretion.
