SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - A magazine is suing South Hadley in an effort to get information about the settlement between the town and Phoebe Prince's family.

ACLU of Massachusetts spokesman Christopher Ott told 22News a reporter for Slate magazine has tried a number of times to obtain settlement details without luck.

ACLU Director Bill Newman filed the lawsuit claiming the settlement is not a privacy matter and it should be made public.

The Prince family withdrew a complaint they had filed against the town after reaching a settlement last year.

The amount of the settlement has never been disclosed.

South Hadley's legal council, Edward Ryan, told 22News the agreement contains a confidentiality clause which is why he is hesitant to release it, however if a judge rules in the magazine's favor,  the town will comply.
