State chemist arrested

AMHERST, Mass (WWLP) - Massachusetts state police have arrested Amherst crime lab chemist Sonja Farak of Northampton.

State Police charged the 35-year-old Farak with allegedly tampering with evidence.

It's alleged that the chemist at the Amherst lab removed a substance that had previously tested positive for Cocaine, and replaced it with a counterfeit substance.

Troopers arrested Farak at her Northampton home at 37 Laurel Park late Saturday night.
