WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - The University of Hartford's president says he doesn't foresee more layoffs and describes the school's financial position as relatively strong.
Walter Harrison told faculty and staff members at a recent gathering that the school has also started planning a new fundraising campaign.
The 7,400-student private university had to make $5.2 million in budget cuts last spring.
That included laying off 11 employees and eliminating 30 vacant jobs.
Harrison says he doesn't expect a repeat and that the cuts are helping the university close the books on the 2009-10 budget year with its 13th consecutive surplus.
