CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Not a lot of support for the Transportation Security Administration's decision to allow passengers to bring small folding knives aboard commercial jets.
It's even becoming a political issue.
Candidates for the Massachusetts Special Senate Election from both sides of the political aisle have criticized the TSA policy that goes into effect late next month.
Patrick Baldwin of Easthampton told 22news, "I think being overly worried about tiny knives on an airplane is kind of silly. If the security on the plane is bad enough that someone having a pen knife can enable them to take over the plane, then the security failed.”
"I don't know. I don't fly a lot. I'm not 100% sure why you'd need a knife anyways; so maybe it's not a great idea," according to Robert Krol of Springfield.
Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley also opposes the new policy that goes into effect April 25th.
