NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) - A Marine helicopter pilot from Massachusetts who made the ultimate sacrifice is being laid to rest.
A funeral service for Capt. Kyle Van De Giesen is scheduled for St. Mary's Church in North Attleborough on Friday morning. It will be followed by a procession through town and burial at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
A candlelight vigil for Van De Giesen was held Thursday night at the football field where the former quarterback led the local high school football team to many victories.
Van De Giesen died Oct. 26 in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. He leaves behind his pregnant wife and an 18-month-old daughter.
