BOSTON (AP) - A group of Latino journalists in Massachusetts has launched a new Spanish-language weekly newspaper.

El Tiempo de Boston, or The Boston Times, began publishing the free paper last week and enters a crowded Spanish-language market where newspapers in general are experiencing a drop in circulation and advertising.

Maximo Torres, director of the 20,000-circulation paper, said he wanted to give the area's growing Latino population another option among the eight or so papers already publishing.

Alberto Vasallo, publisher of the Boston-based El Mundo, said his paper has seen a 15 percent drop in advertising since last year.
